DC Rail and Hobby Depot is a family owned and operated business providing quality products and service to our customers since 2005. We’re not a huge corporation but rather fellow hobbyists that enjoy Model Railroading, producing craftsman products and passing on great deals to our customers. We specialize in the sale of model railroad products in all scales, both new and gently used.  Our two signature product lines are our Craftsman Trees and our full line of Hobby Loads  freight loads. 

Out of a desire to have more realistic looking and affordable trees we’ve developed our own full line of craftsman trees that come in all scales and seasons.  Each of our trees is hand-crafted one branch at a time with the discriminating modeler in mind.   Unlike the many plastic options available, no two of our trees are ever alike.  More importantly, they’re reasonably priced for both the frugal beginner all the way up to the craftsman modeler. 

We are home to Hobby Loads, our own full line of freight loads for over 250 styles of gondolas and hoppers in every scale from N to G.  We NEVER use resins, molds, plastic or foam in the making of our products. Like our trees, each of our loads is hand-crafted one load at a time from real wood and meticulously designed to fit each individual car. We use a variety of “real” freight materials from Anthracite Coal to River Rock, to more modern garbage, as well as construction and demolition loads.  We test-fit each load no less than five times during the production process to ensure an exact fit, every time.  Our Hobby Loads have been produced by hand for over 20 years now and like our motto states: NO TWO LOADS ARE EXACTLY ALIKE!  Our craftsmanship, attention to detail and use of real materials are what set us apart from our competition and make our products unique.
